Mud was always a Poor Man’s material, used by everyone to build their shelters. But today, Mud homes are constructed very costlier than a cement building. To stop portraying mud in such a manner and to make mud homes affordable to all, we bring our ‘Natural Building Camp for Common Man’, in which interested people can learn about different techniques of building with mud, in a nominal fee.

One doesn’t have to be an Architect or an Engineer to make a mud home. Anyone can build a good mud home with right knowledge about using Natural materials like mud, lime, stone, bamboo, plant & animal derivatives. This two-day course aims at introducing participants to the basics of Natural building. People from different walks of life can come together; and learn by doing hands-on work and observing existing projects in our campus. It can serve as a platform to share experiences with like-minded people and arrive at making a home in harmony with nature.

The workshop will be a two-day hands-on course focusing on Natural building: techniques and materials. It will be held in our campus at the foot hill of Arunachala, Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu. It is open for all regardless of their age and profession.

This camp can be attended for a nominal fee of minimum Rs. 3000/-, you can contribute more if you wish to support us. You can also sponsor someone else for this course. This way you will be also helping someone who values the idea of making shelters with less harm for the nature.

The course consists of

  • Theory sessions with lectures and audio-visual presentation.
  • Hands-on sessions (for better practical learning about Materials & Techniques).
  • Prototype sessions (artisan will explain through doing a sample).
  • Question and Answer session.
